Our business starts by understanding yours
Each specialism has its own team, its own wordings and its own claims record.
A single international insurance programme, governed from Spain
- Master policyIssued in the parent company’s country.
- Admitted local policiesOne per country, in line with admitted insurance rules.
- DIC / DIL clausesThe master policy covers the difference and lifts the payout to the group limit.
- New subsidiaries and consolidated reportingAutomatic enrolment of new companies and claims data country by country.
A single point of contact in Spain; on the ground, a local broker chosen for its specialism in that market.
We belong to three international networks of independent brokers — UnisonSteadfast, TechAssure and LARS Network — each answering a different way of growing abroad.
Many countries do not allow local risks to be covered by a foreign policy: it exposes the group to penalties, to a non-deductible premium and to a claim that cannot be paid locally.
A claim is not processed. It is argued.
- We read the cover before we argue it. Which cover applies, which sub-limit caps it and which exclusion the insurer might invoke is settled on day one, with the wording in front of us.
- We appoint our own loss adjuster when the valuation falls short. The insurer’s loss adjuster report is a technical position: we appoint our own and hold the line to a third adjuster if need be.
- We follow the claim through to actual payment. We claim the forty-day advance, chase the final payment and give the treasury an amount and a date.
- What each claim teaches goes back into the programme. A short cover or a sum insured left behind surfaces in a claim file, and is corrected at the next renewal.

We are JORI&, an insurance and reinsurance broker for companies since 1890
People know us by the name of whoever picks up the phone, not by the name of the brokerage. We are more than a hundred professionals organised into areas — major accounts, international programmes, claims, credit and surety, employee benefits and private clients — working on the same file to the same standard.
Your account has a named lead and a team behind them. And when the business goes beyond Spain, a network of correspondents that executes on the ground to our instructions: the same closeness, with whatever reach is needed.
We publish the reasoning we apply when reviewing an insurance programme

What people ask us before the first meeting
What is a broker’s role in a company’s insurance programme?
A broker analyses the exposure of the business, presents the risk to several insurers and negotiates terms on the client’s behalf. JORI& is an insurance and reinsurance broker and belongs to no insurer, so the recommendation does not depend on which company ends up writing the policy. When a loss occurs, the broker sustains the claim against the insurer until payment.
Who handles the claim, the broker or the insurer?
The insurer runs the file and appoints the loss adjuster; the broker represents the company before both. JORI& has its own claims department — fourteen people across the four offices — acting as the technical counterpart to the adjuster, giving treasury a forecast of how much will be paid and when, and closing the file documented so that the renewal arrives explained.
How does a company with subsidiaries abroad get insured?
With an international programme: a master policy issued in the parent company’s country and an admitted local policy in each country where the group operates, joined by DIC/DIL clauses that cover the difference in conditions and raise the settlement to the group limit. JORI& governs the programme from Spain and executes it locally through correspondent brokers, with automatic inclusion of new subsidiaries and country-by-country reporting of exposure and loss experience.
How often should a company review its insurance programme?
At every renewal, and whenever something shifts the exposure: a capital investment, a new plant, a new market, a change in the replacement lead time of a production line. The review covers sums insured, indemnity period, sublimits and clause conditions, and reports back in writing on what would change, what would stay and what each option would cost.
Where is JORI& and what territory does it serve?
JORI& has four offices with its own teams: Barcelona, head office since 1890, Madrid, Vitoria and Mollerussa. The programme is governed from Spain, and wherever the company operates abroad we work with independent brokers chosen for their specialism in each country. That reach rests on three international networks of independent brokers: UnisonSteadfast, TechAssure —specialising in technology, cyber and life sciences risk— and LARS Network, which covers Latin America.
