Personal jewellery insurance

The peace of mind of being able to wear your personal jewellery at any time and anywhere in the world, except in countries in conflict.

Definition

What is personal jewellery insurance

It is a policy designed to protect personal jewellery against theft, both inside and outside the home. It covers any piece that can be worn: watches, rings, bracelets, necklaces or any other jewellery. It insures the policyholder named in the schedule and the jewellery they wear personally.

Advantages

Advantages of personal jewellery insurance

01

Jewellery specialists

Our jewellery unit works exclusively with the jewellery trade: a leading team that knows it inside out and stands by it.

02

The protection travels with the piece

Wearing a piece of jewellery to a dinner, on a trip or at an event does not leave it unprotected: the cover goes with you wherever you are.

03

Valuation in specialist hands

JORI has an agreement with the Spanish Association of Jewellery Valuers (Asociación Española de Tasadores de Alhajas, AETA) to make valuations easier for our clients.

04

Buy, protect and enjoy straight away

Our system allows you to insure a newly acquired piece of jewellery in just three steps, directly from the jeweller's. You receive your cover certificate immediately and can enjoy your new piece with peace of mind from day one.

Frequent doubts

Most frequently asked questions about personal jewellery insurance

How is the jewellery insured?

It is insured with the purchase invoice or a valuation certificate, and covered while worn anywhere in the world, except in the countries excluded in the schedule. Exclusively for people whose habitual residence is in Spain.

Does the valuation need updating?

It is not compulsory, but it is advisable to update it at least once a year so that the sum insured reflects reality.

In the event of a claim, the settlement is calculated according to the amounts set in the policy and the documents provided. That is why up-to-date valuations, invoices or certificates make it easier to value the pieces and speed up the handling of the claim.

Who does this policy insure?

The policyholder named in the schedule, for the jewellery they wear personally, provided their habitual residence is in Spain.

What security measures must the main residence have to take out this insurance?

The main residence must have an alarm system connected to an alarm receiving centre and a safe. A questionnaire must also be completed.

When travelling, if it is not being worn, jewellery must be kept in the room safe or the hotel safe. Second homes need the same measures as the main residence, even for temporary stays.

What documentation is needed to take it out?

The invoice or appraisal certificate for each piece and, if possible, a photograph of each one.

How is a claim settled?
  • Total loss. The replacement value at the date of the loss. If the piece is no longer on the market, the settlement is for an item of similar characteristics or features.
  • Partial loss. The cost of repair, with the insurer's prior authorisation.
