The contract

Subrogation

Right of the insurer to take the place of the insured, once the compensation has been paid, to claim from the party responsible for the damage.

In practice

The insured cannot waive it without permission: signing a reciprocal waiver in a lease or supply contract without notifying the insurer can cost the compensation. It is advisable to review these clauses before signing them, not afterwards.
